The "FOF Observations" are a series of "Perpetual Posts" where I will share with you, my readers, short little "one line" observations that I have made (or will be making) on being the father of a large family. You will be able to access each of the posts in a cohesive list by clicking on the "FOF Observations" link in the "Perpetual Posts" group on the sidebar.

The Mother of Five: Oh darn, we are out of milk upstairs.
The Father of Five: (Said in my best super hero voice) No worries my darling, beautiful, wonderful wife, I will come to the rescue of our family by procuring an additional container of refreshing dairy beverage for all to enjoy!!
MOF: Sigh.... Quit the theatrics and bring up another gallon of milk please.
FOF: (Bowing my head in embarrassing shame) OK.
After reaching the basement pantry refrigerator, and grabbing a gallon of milk...
FOF: HEY MOF!! Looks like we are starting to run low on our milk supply again!
----------------------------------
Yup... That's after taking one out of the fridge, and having one empty upstairs... This is our milk supply for between a week and a half to two weeks...
Forget backyard chickens (sorry AtHomeDaddy), like I said in the previous Observation #8 - perhaps a backyard dairy cow or two would be prudent consideration at this point!
For some more older "grocery" fun, don't forget to check out Observation #5!
Thanks for stopping by!
It is excruciatingly sad how fast a gallon of milk goes. I can't put a cow in my back yard, but I've considered goat milk a few times! I just don't know if I could handle a goat. They eat everything!
ReplyDeleteYup. When my older kids were younger, I went through a gallon a day.
ReplyDeleteAnd Dan? Lemmee just warn you that raw goat milk is um... How shall I say? Smells a little strong.
Thanks for the warning! I haven't had raw milk of any kind since leaving Kansas, so I'm sure any real milk would smell/taste strong, but I'll take your word for it with goats especially!
ReplyDeleteTou are some hard core milk drinkers!
ReplyDeleteDave,
ReplyDeletehave them try some Dihydrogen Monoxide, its almost free.
Co-worker
There was a time when that MIGHT have been enough for a week at my house. Consumption has slowed since then - we are down from 10 to 3 occupants. That would last us 2 weeks now, but not much more, I think. Milk is good!
ReplyDeleteHA HA! And CareerMom was complaining, "Man, we go through a LOT of milk" the other night. NOT EVEN! Most of it goes to my protein shakes.
ReplyDeleteWow, and I thought our milk consumption was bad! That's a serious supply right there.
ReplyDeleteLOL @ (Bowing my head in embarrassing shame) I've been there buddy.
3 gallons a week gets us through. Anymore than that and I would need a new fridge since we gave up the 2nd a while back.
